Meden School on Sonata™ Ballet Floor

Client: Meden School

Objective: To cover an existing wooden theatre stage with a performance vinyl dance floor suitable for all applications.

Specific Requirements: Our client required a safe surface for dance as the existing boards were old, uneven and, due to splinters, not safe for children to perform on.

Installed Product: Sonata™ Ballet Floor

The existing wooden stage top was uneven and had, over the years, become rough with splinters and screw fixings. It was completely unsuitable for dance or for children to perform in bare feet. Le Mark quoted to install a new performance top and recommended Sonata™ ballet floor due to its matt black finish and strong wear layer durability. The stage floor area, like many, had electrical stage traps that needed to be retained and accessed within the new top surface which were updated on site by our installation team.

The front edge of any stage is a favourite for children to jump up and sit on or run their hands along the front line. With this in mind Le Mark fitted a safe rubber finishing strip which covered all sharp edges and screw heads. The Installation was completed during the schools Easter break to allow for minimal disruption to staff and pupils at the school. Pat Kennedy, Head of Drama, said “The new stage top allows us to use the main stage again for all types of performances and the installation was carried out quickly and professionally, the company was a delight to deal with.”
